Tinubu, VP, others bag chieftaincy titles in Abia

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Omeziri Igbo 1 by Abia State leadership of the traditional rulers council.

The vice president, Kashim Shettima was also conferred with a chieftaincy title of Enyioma Ndígbo 1 by the Abia monarchs.

Also, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas bagged Dike Di Na Mba and Okwuruoha chieftaincy titles respectively.

The chieftaincy titles were bestowed on the political heavyweights during the unveiling of the Peace In Southeast Project (PISE-P) at the headquarters of Bende, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

Speaking after being decorated with the chieftaincy title, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by the Vice President, commended the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and convener of Peace In Southeast Project (PISE-P), for toeing the line of President Tinubu’s government to end insecurity in the southeast.

The Vice President noted the importance of the region to the economic growth of the country, adding that the President was concerned about the effect of insecurity on the economy of the South-East, which he lamented was posing a huge setback to the economic development of the area and the country at large.

The President who affirmed that his government was ready to ensure safety of lives and property in the region, stated that the federal government would no longer fold its arms to watch unscrupulous individuals continue to force the economy of the region to nosedive.

He appreciated the traditional rulers for finding it fit to bestow on him and others with such prestigious chieftaincy titles.

Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, speaking on behalf of South-East governors lamented the untold hardship insecurity has caused the people of the area since 2021.

He expressed hope that the Kalu’s pet project would go a long way to bring lasting peace to the troubled region.

Abia State governor, Alex Otti said peace would deliver growth in all sectors of the region’s economy.

Many dignitaries attended the ceremony which was aimed at ending insecurity in the South East.
