Niger Tanker Fire: Governors Call For Stricter Enforcement Of Safety Measures

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has commiserated with families of the victims of the tanker explosion along the Dikko/Kaduna Road, in Niger State but called for stricter enforcement of safety measures.

Seventy-seven persons died and scores were injured during the incident that has thrown the country into mourning.

In a statement, the chairman of the Forum, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, extended the heartfelt condolences of the NGF to the government and people of
Niger State, as well as families who have suffered the unimaginable loss of their loved ones.

“This heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow of grief across the entire nation.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State, as well as to the families who have suffered unimaginable loss in this tragedy,” the statement added.

Beyond the condolences, the governors also called for stricter enforcement of safety measures in the handling of combustible materials.

The NGF described the latest incident as a stark reminder of the urgent need to enhance the nation’s regulatory frameworks to prevent such reoccurrence.
