Winners have emerged in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government chairmanship primaries for 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The election held amidst tight security with heavy presence of police operatives at the party secretariat in ACME Ikeja.

Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh was on ground to monitor the security situation within and around the venue.

Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and those of the Department of State Security (DSS) were also on ground to provide security.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority were also on the ground to ensure free flow of movement.

Vehicular movements on the entire stretch of the road leading to the venue were restricted.

The development created gridlock around ACME Road and other roads, forcing vehicles to take alternative routes to access their destinations.

No fewer than 1,500 party delegates from the different council areas were screened for accreditation, before exercising their franchise.

The APC leadership expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the primaries and has urged all party members to remain committed and united as the campaign for the main elections begins.

According to official results obtained by The Nation, the party has so far confirmed candidates in the following councils
