In a remarkable display of brilliance and cultural inclusivity, Miss Saka Aliyat, a native of Osun State, has emerged as the overall best graduating student at Choice De Immaculate Demonstration School (CIDS), Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Aliyat, a Yoruba girl studying in the heart of Igbo land, stunned many as she not only excelled across science and commercial subjects but also emerged as the Best Student in Igbo Language, an uncommon feat that drew admiration and applause from guests and educators alike.
The exceptional student bagged awards in multiple subjects, including Igbo Language, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Economics, and Marketing, further establishing her as a well-rounded scholar.
Adding to her laurels, Aliyat received several character-based awards such as Most Hardworking Student, Most Disciplined, Most Punctual, Neatest/Complete Uniform, and Affinity to Students, reflecting both her academic brilliance and moral excellence.
The event, which marked the school’s 15th Valedictory/Sendforth Ceremony and Prize-Giving Day, was filled with excitement and pride as parents, teachers, and fellow students celebrated Aliyat’s outstanding achievements.
In her heartfelt valedictory address, Miss Aliyat attributed her success to hard work, discipline, and obedience to her teachers and the school’s Director, whom she described as her mentor and role model. She encouraged her fellow students to remain focused and passionate about their studies.
“Focus on your studies with enthusiasm, dedication, and diligence,” she urged. “Listen to your teachers and our Director, who guides us with wisdom and care. If you do, you will surely excel beyond your imagination.”
The school’s Director, Mrs. Solomy Ochokwu, in her inspiring address, praised the graduating students for their resilience and academic growth, urging them to uphold the values they learned at CIDS as they step into the wider world.
“We are confident that as you embark on the next chapter of your lives, you will do so with boldness and purpose,” she said. “Wear the armour of resilience because the world will test you. When it does, fight back — but fight with integrity, honesty, and a relentless work ethic.”
She also reminded the students to remain grateful to their parents and mentors who supported their educational journey.
“Remember to look back with gratitude,” she added. “Honour your parents who stood by you; in doing so, your blessings will never end.”
The celebration of Aliyat’s achievements has since drawn commendations from within and beyond the school community, with many describing her story as a symbol of unity, determination, and cultural harmony — a Yoruba girl mastering the Igbo language and excelling in all facets of learning.
Her success, observers say, reinforces the message that excellence knows no tribe, language, or boundary, but flows naturally where hard work, discipline, and the right values meet.
