25 Years of Visionary Leadership: Ketare Monarch, Bello, Marks Silver Jubilee

The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, mni, has marked a remarkable milestone — 25 years on the revered throne of his forefathers — as the Kanwan Katsina III, celebrating his Silver Jubilee with reflection and gratitude.

Turbaned on November 4, 2000, by the late Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Usman, following the passing of his father, Alhaji Bello Nadabo (the Second Kanwan Katsina), Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has since distinguished himself as a visionary and progressive traditional ruler.

A retired Comptroller of Customs and a proud alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, the Kanwan Katsina has, over the last quarter of a century, transformed Ketare District into a model of community-driven development.

Under his reign, the district has witnessed unprecedented growth in education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment. He facilitated the establishment of primary and community secondary schools, organized computer literacy training for hundreds of youths, and partnered with government and development agencies to expand access to healthcare and agricultural support.

Beyond development, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has been a pillar of peace and stability, working closely with security agencies, government authorities, and traditional institutions to sustain harmony and social welfare across his domain.

Reflecting on his journey, the monarch credited his achievements to the unwavering support of successive Katsina State Governments — from the late Umaru Musa Yar’adua to Ibrahim Shema, Aminu Bello Masari, and the current governor, Dikko Umar Radda.

He also expressed profound appreciation to the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, and members of the Emirate Council for their guidance and leadership support. The royal father extended his gratitude to village and ward heads, friends, families, and the people of Ketare District for their loyalty and cooperation over the past 25 years.

As he marks his Silver Jubilee, the Kanwan Katsina reaffirmed his commitment to uphold the legacy of his ancestors, promote unity, and continue supporting government policies and programmes that advance the welfare of his people.

“This milestone is not just mine, but a celebration of our collective journey of progress, peace, and service,” he said.
