The Nigeria Labour Congress has directed all State councils Chairpersons and Secretaries to mobilise members for a nationwide ‘get our children back to school protests
A letter to the state councils and signed by NLC President, Ayuba Wabba and General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja, said the protest is schedule for July 26 and 27.
The NLC noted that In line with the decisions of the National Executive Council meeting held on the June 30, 2022, it has scheduled as follows the National Days of Protest to get public University students back to school and support the unions in Nigeria’s public universities fighting for quality education.
The letter added that take off Point for the protests will be NLC State Secretariats and the Labour House in Abuja
The university-based unions on are the include; the Academic Staff union of universities,ASUU, the Senior staff Associstion of Nigerian Universities, SSANU and the Non-,academic Staff unions in Universities.

While ASUU has been on over five months old strike, other unions have stayed away from work for up to two months.
In statement issued by NLC on Saturday, it asked the Federal government to retract the ‘No work, No Pay’ policy and pay the lecturers their salaries.
ASUU is demanding for adoption of University Transperancy and Accountability Solution, UTAS as a payment system after faulting government’s own IPPIS.
ASUU is also requesting among other things, the renegotiation of 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement.
