The winds of change swept through the Tincan Island Port on Friday as Comptroller Frank Onyeka, a seasoned strategist and visionary, officially assumed his position as the new Customs Area Controller (CAC). This transition follows the elevation of Comptroller DA Nnadi, mni, to the prestigious rank of Assistant Comptroller General (ACG), marking the end of an illustrious chapter and the beginning of another promising journey.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration, Comptroller Onyeka stands as a beacon of competence and innovation. His track record includes groundbreaking revenue generation initiatives at Premier Port Gate and the Onne Port Area Command Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), coupled with a fierce commitment to anti-smuggling operations. His reputation as a leader of courage and intellect precedes him, promising a dynamic tenure ahead.
In his inaugural address, Comptroller Onyeka outlined a vision steeped in the principles of collaboration, consolidation, and innovation. “We are here to build on the remarkable legacy left by ACG Nnadi,” he declared, urging stakeholders—including security agencies, freight forwarders, terminal operators, and the media—to unite in driving the Command to greater heights.
The appointment of Comptroller Onyeka heralds a new dawn for the Tincan Island Port Area Command. With his keen eye for innovation and an unwavering commitment to excellence, the stage is set for the command to soar to even greater heights, reaffirming its pivotal role in Nigeria’s Customs’ landscape
ACG Nnadi, reflecting on his tenure, celebrated a series of milestones, including the collection of an impressive ₦1,226,777,245,874.97 in revenue—representing 86.8% of the Federal Government’s 2024 target—and a staggering increase in the Duty Paid Value (DPV) of seized goods, which surged from ₦1.051 billion in 2023 to an astounding ₦4.506 billion in 2024. “This leap of over ₦3.454 billion underscores the unwavering dedication of this Command,” Nnadi remarked, encouraging continued collaboration under the new leadership.
As he bid farewell, ACG Nnadi pledged to remain an ally to the Command from his new position at the headquarters, ensuring an open-door policy for all seeking counsel to advance the Customs Service.
Recall that DC. Onyeka was formerly at Onne Port Harcourt. His operations and service delivery in cargo documentation and clearance at the gate then were widely commended by most stakeholders at the command.
