Vice president Yemi Osinbajo says more than half of the population of Nigerian Children are on the wrong side of the digital divide and wants development partners, States and the private sector to support the federal Government in efforts to bridge the gap.
Osinbajo who was represented by the minister of state for education, Emeka Nwajuiba at the launch of Nigeria Learning Passport, a platform to help address out of school children syndrome, says getting children of school age into school goes beyond creating access, but should also encourage enrollment in schools.
it is not the first time Nigeria will be launching an e-learning platform since the out break of covid-19, but it is the first time it is engaging development partners and state governments on a larger scale.
The Main objective of the Nigeria Learning passport is to create access and encourage enrollment.
The workability of the Nigeria Learning passport, will be obvious in the coming weeks when implementation begins in full swing, but a cross section of speakers believe that inadequate funding may hamper the sustainability of such perceived laudable initiative.
