At least five notorious cultists have been feared killed after rival gangs resumed supremacy battle in the Mushin area of Lagos at the weekend.

The gang war said to be between members of the Aye and Eiye cult groups, it was gathered, started from Ilasa and soon escalated to Ile-Epo, Idiaraba, Tollgate and Ilupeju areas of the local government area.

Sources told our  correspondent that one of the deceased known as Debo alias Zaydee, a resident of Olufunmilayo Street, was among the top cult leaders of Eiye in the area.

It was gathered that his brother, also a suspected cultist, was allegedly killed a few years ago during gang war.

Trouble was said to have started on Saturday morning after suspected Eiye members killed one Elijah, said to be an Aye.

The death of Elijah, it was gathered, angered members of his gang who went on retaliation against the supposed killers.

It was gathered that while returning from burying their dead, the hoodlums sighted Debo on a motorcycle, trailed him and dispossessed him of his firearm.

“They shot him. As if they were not satisfied, they cut his head to be sure he was dead. They also macheted another guy. I heard they killed more than five people, all suspected cultists.

“People are afraid that the situation might get out of hand. I don’t want to stay outside late because no one knows what will happen,” said a resident who pleaded not to be named.

Another suspected cultist was said to have been killed near the Mushin Tollgate around 8pm on Saturday.

A friend to Zaydee who confirmed his death on social media, recalled how he exchanged banter with deceased earlier in the day.
