The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, mni, has commended Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, for implementing impactful development projects under the Katsina State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (KT-CARES) programme.
The traditional ruler gave the commendation during an exclusive interview with officials of Nigeria CARES (NG-CARES), who were in Katsina State from Abuja to inspect projects executed by the State KT-CARES Office and engage with stakeholders, beneficiaries, and traditional leaders.
Highlighting achievements in Ketare District, Alhaji Kankara said the area has benefitted significantly from the programme, particularly through the construction of Community Day Secondary Schools in Wawal Kaza and Ganzamawa. He noted that the schools serve several surrounding communities and have contributed substantially to reducing the number of out-of-school children.
He stressed the vital role of traditional rulers in sensitising communities on the importance of girl-child education and community-driven development, adding that increased access to secondary education would enable more girls to pursue careers as nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals.
The Kanwan Katsina also explained that traditional institutions support development efforts by facilitating the provision of land for project execution within their communities.
KT-CARES is a World Bank-supported programme, with counterpart funding from the Katsina State Government, delivering interventions in education, health, water supply, nutrition, erosion control, and other critical sectors.
Commending Governor Radda for the timely release of counterpart funds, Alhaji Kankara said this has ensured the sustainability and effective implementation of the programme across the state. He urged the governor to sustain the momentum to extend the benefits to more communities in Katsina State.
