In a bold move to reposition Nigeria’s maritime industry for greater efficiency and impact, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced the strategic redeployment of 56 management staff across key departments.
The shake-up, approved by the Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, is designed to strengthen inter-departmental collaboration, inject fresh momentum into operations, and align the Agency’s workforce with its core mandate of driving sustainable maritime development.
Dr. Mobereola said the exercise represents a deliberate step toward optimizing service delivery and deepening synergy across the Agency’s strategic units. He charged the newly redeployed directors to bring renewed vigor and innovation to their roles in advancing NIMASA’s vision for a globally competitive maritime sector.
Under the new leadership structure, Hajia Moji Jimoh assumes office as Director, Administration and Human Resources; Aishatu Jidda becomes Director, Planning, Research and Data Management Services; Barr. Heaky Dimowo takes over as Director, Legal Services/Board Secretary; and Isichei Osamgbi becomes Director, SERVICOM. Mrs. Olubusola Obasanjo-Akande now leads the Western Zonal Office as Director.
Others include Engr. Christopher Amakulo as Director, Special Duties; Ms. Gloria Anyasodo, Director, Cabotage Services; Salihu Abdullahi Yelwa, Director, Shipping Development; Mrs. Nneka Obianyor, Director, Reforms Coordination and Blue Economy; Umar Ibrahim Sidi, Director, Maritime Labour Services; Dr. Oma Ofodile, Director, Marine Environment Management; Mr. Buba Umar, Director, Abuja Zonal Office; and Ahmed Shittien as Special Adviser (Technical) to the DG.
Reaffirming his commitment to institutional excellence, Dr. Mobereola noted that the redeployment exercise underscores NIMASA’s dedication to efficiency, accountability, and innovation — key drivers in realizing Nigeria’s blue economy aspirations.
“This restructuring is not just about movement; it’s about momentum. We are realigning our human resources to deliver on our strategic goals and ensure the maritime sector remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic growth,” Mobereola stated.
