Portbizness News, in collaboration with the Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA), is set to host the second edition of the Ports & Trans-Border International Trade Discourse on Friday, December 12, and Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Badagry, Lagos.
The annual event, designed as a high-level platform for policymakers, trade experts, business leaders, researchers, and development partners, aims to address the persistent challenges affecting cross-border trade in Nigeria. These challenges include tariff and non-tariff barriers, poor infrastructure, inconsistent government policies, and limited access to funding.
In a statement signed by the Project Director, James Shodiya, and endorsed by BACCIMA President, Alhaji Yahaya Oladiran Idris, the organisers said this year’s discourse will offer practical solutions to enhance regional cooperation and improve Nigeria’s competitiveness under agreements such as the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The 2025 edition, themed “Bridging Borders, Building National Prosperity & Strengthening Regional Trade,” will open on Friday with lectures, panel discussions, and a gala night at Sycomore Hotel & Suites, Ajara, Badagry, starting at 2 p.m. The second day will feature a guided excursion to major tourist sites in Badagry.
Hon. (Dr.) Segun Musa, Chairman/Chief Consultant on Global Transport Policy, will chair the occasion. Keynote speeches will be delivered by Dr. Azeez A. Mustapha and Mr. Kola Awe, Chairman, NACCIMA Export Group. Other dignitaries expected include the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, as Special Guest of Honour; Alhaji Olanrewaju Akeem, MD/CEO Taloid Group of Companies, as Father of the Day; and ANLCA PRO (Tincan Chapter), Comrade Onome Monije, as Mother of the Day.
Shodiya expressed optimism about this year’s edition, noting that the involvement of BACCIMA brings added depth through its wide-ranging trade facilitation expertise..
