Troops kill 10 terrorists, rescue 9 kidnap victims in Katsina, Zamfara

Gusau—The troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have neutralised 10 terrorists, rescued nine kidnap victims, and recovered arms and ammunition including operational motorcycle and communication gadgets in Katsina and Zamfara states.

The Force Information Officer, Operation Hadarin Daji, Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, said the feat was recorded in recent dry season clearance operations commanded by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut.

According to the statement, on January 3, 2024, the combined troops of the OPHD conducted an offensive operation in identified terrorist enclaves at Batsari and Safana local government areas of Katsina State, neutralizing 10 of the terrorists while others fled with gunshot wounds.

The statement added, the troops also recovered 1 AK-47 rifle, ammunition, seven Dane guns, three locally fabricated guns, and other dangerous weapons as well as communication gadgets, mobile phones and military uniforms while 4 Motorcycles were recovered and destroyed.

Similarly, on the same day, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji operating in Zamfara State, conducted a search and rescue operation at Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru local government of Zamfara state, stressing that “during the operation, nine kidnapped victims, five women and four babies, were rescued.
