MAAN Congratulates Obasi on Emergence as MARAN Vice President, Promises Deeper Cooperation

The Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN) has congratulated Mr. Sylvanus Obasi on his election as Vice President of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), describing his emergence as a recognition of his professionalism, dedication and contributions to the maritime industry.
In a statement jointly signed by MAAN President, Mrs. Jean Chiazor-Anishere, and the association’s Secretary, Mrs. Foluke Akinmoladun, the body said Obasi’s election reflected his integrity, commitment and outstanding role in maritime journalism, capacity building, youth empowerment, mentorship and gender advocacy within the sector.
MAAN noted that Obasi has consistently distinguished himself as a committed maritime journalist with deep knowledge of the industry, adding that his insightful reportage and active engagement with stakeholders have contributed significantly to policy discussions and sectoral development.
According to the association, his professional record demonstrates a strong commitment to transparency, accountability and the growth of the maritime sector. It expressed confidence that his tenure as MARAN Vice President would further strengthen the association’s role in promoting informed dialogue and sustainable development in the industry.
The association also highlighted the cordial relationship existing between MAAN and MARAN, built over the years on mutual respect and professional collaboration. It stated that Obasi’s emergence presents an opportunity to deepen cooperation between both bodies in pursuit of shared industry goals and professional advancement.
“As a foremost professional body committed to the advancement of maritime arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, MAAN looks forward to sustaining and deepening the cordial relationship existing between the two esteemed associations in pursuit of mutual professional and industry objectives,” the statement said, while wishing Obasi and the newly elected MARAN executive led by Mr. Oluyinka Onigbinde a successful and impactful tenure.
