ACG Festus Oyedele Okun Embarks On Familiarisation Visit To Government Warehouse Ikorodu
The Zonal Co-ordinator, Zone ‘A’, ACG Festus Oyedele Okun during his familiarisation visit to Government Warehouse Ikorodu for on the spot assessment of the activities at the facility charged officers on professionalism and due diligence.
The Zonal Co-ordinator, who made this disclosure when he addressed officers during the visit also commended them for their commitment and dedication despite challenging work environment.
He further urged the officers to imbibe high ethical and professional standards in discharging their mandate.
This is in addition to ensuring a cordial relationship with other critical stakeholders, including the regulatory and security agencies.
Furthermore, he drew the attention of officers to the need to report any issue pertaining to their operations, which may be beyond them to his office in line with service protocol
The Deputy comptroller in charge of Ikorodu Terminal, Comptroller Williams Okpabi, who received the Zonal Co-ordinator on arrival and who conducted the ACG and his entourage round the expansive Government Warehouse facility, gave detailed explanations on the operational challenges.
The officer in charge of the facility, Deputy comptroller Williams Okpabi, who gave a comprehensive account of their schedule also drew the attention of the ACG to the operations of other organizations within Ikorodu Lighter Terminal.
Besides this, it is remarkable to note that the tour took ACG Festus Okun to where consignments were constructively warehoused in line with the purpose for which the warehouse was established.
During the interactive session with representatives of Nigeria Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarding (NAGAFF), Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), led DPO and others who were on ground to receive the Zonal Co-ordinator, the ACG sought their support and collaboration with the officers at the terminal, while enjoined them to operate within the confines of the law, in addition to strict adherence to the Government Warehouse standards operating procedures.
At the conclusion of the visit, the ACG advised them to maintain a heightened alert to guard against illegal encroachment by hoodlums and non state actors to the facility, while stressing that security of the facility is very critical at this time.
The ACG was accompanied on the visit by Zonal Comptroller Enforcement, Comptroller E S Nwankwo, Comptroller Special Duties, Comptroller Comfort Ukpanah and other senior officers in the Zone.
