The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on Tuesday commissioned a state-of-the-art Analytical Centre built by the Apapa Area Command to strengthen intelligence-driven customs operations.
Speaking at the event, the Apapa Area Controller, Comptroller Oshoba, said the facility—named CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi Analytical Arena—marks a new era of data-driven border security, enhanced trade monitoring and improved welfare for officers.
The two-storey complex houses the Analytics Centre of Excellence, the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU), the command’s clinic, and other strategic operational offices designed to support modern customs administration.
Adeniyi commended the command for completing the project within a short period, noting that the centre aligns with the Nigeria Customs Service modernization agenda aimed at leveraging technology, analytics and intelligence to combat smuggling, boost revenue generation and facilitate legitimate trade.
The centre will serve as a hub for trade intelligence, revenue analytics, operational performance monitoring and data-driven decision-making within the command.
The project was also described as a practical example of the Customs-PACT (Partnership for Cooperation in Trade) initiative, achieved through collaboration between the service and its stakeholders.
