Dantsoho: Abuja Set to Drive Nigeria’s Export Revolution

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has declared Abuja’s central location and vast agro-allied potential as game-changers in Nigeria’s quest to grow non-oil revenue and reposition the nation as an export powerhouse.

Speaking at the Abuja International Trade Fair during the NPA Special Day, Dantsoho said Abuja’s unique geography provides seamless port-hinterland connectivity, linking Nigeria’s regions and unlocking massive opportunities for farmers, small businesses, and exporters to plug directly into global markets.

“Abuja’s centrality gives us the advantage of connecting value creators across the federation to international demand clusters,” he said, stressing that NPA is determined to simplify exports, eliminate bottlenecks, and make Nigerian products globally competitive.

Highlighting NPA’s reforms, Dantsoho pointed to the establishment of Export Processing Terminals (EPTs) as one-stop shops for cargo consolidation, documentation, packaging, certification, and swift electronic shipment to ports — eliminating delays and red tape that previously crippled exports.

He further revealed that EPTs are now integrated with Domestic Export Warehouses (DEWs) and Inland Dry Ports in collaboration with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), giving Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) a structured pathway into the export value chain.

In a bold move towards transparency, Dantsoho announced the rollout of the Ports Community System (PCS) — a unified transaction gateway designed to dovetail into the National Single Window (NSW), a global best practice platform that streamlines all trade interactions “at the push of a button.”

According to him, the system will permanently dismantle bureaucratic bottlenecks, curb opacity, and fast-track Nigeria’s export competitiveness.

> “Our doors are open for partnerships beyond this fair. With PCS and NSW, we are laying the foundation to link even the remotest farmer or SME in Nigeria to the farthest global demand clusters,” he assured.

Dr. Dantsoho urged investors, exporters, and entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities now available through NPA’s simplified export systems and explore its interactive offerings on www.nigerianports.gov.ng.
