Insecurity: Nigeria has collapsed – Onowu – Flays Obiano for not completing any road project in Uli

BY GODWIN OBI

A frontline politician and community leader in Uli, Anambra state, Ogbuehi Franklin Igwe has described Nigeria as a failed nation state, even as he maintained that Nigeria’s sorry situation would remain irredeemable until the present Nigerian constitution is jettisoned and replaced with one that will reflect the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.

The Anambra State High Chief popularly known as Onowu noted that Nigeria as a nation has fallen from it’s tall grace and has therefore been overrun by lawlessness, adding that federal government has exhibited colossal failure in the knowledge of how the citizenry can be protected. He noted that conducting further presidential election in the country without addressing the fundamental problems dragging this nation backwards will continue to deepen agitations stemming from ethnicity to religiousity.

Submitting what he called his joker and indeed, a veritable panacea to the myriads of problems rocking the country, Chief Igwe said that all the ethnic nationalities that currently make up the entity called Nigeria came together as a union and should be free to exit just as it was the case with the European Union (EU). He said the idea of arresting entities that threaten to quit this union called Nigeria shows a crass case of failure of leadership at the top, recalling that the ethnic nationalities have massively manifested lack of confidence in each other, and therefore wished that they go separate ways. In that vein, the maverick community leader called for the convocation of national conference from the local governments to the topmost tier of government where people will decide how they want to coexist or otherwise.

In what he termed a second joker, the Uli born self-effacing politician called for total amendment of Nigeria’s constitution and not selective amendment as is currently being proposed by the National Assembly. He said the objective of having a comprehensive amendment is to offer room for complete implementation of true federalism, explaining that with full enforcement of true federalism, all the six geo-political zones will be availed of the opportunity to develop their various endowed natural resources at their own paces.

Igwe who is also a top notcher of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Anambra state scored high the Anambra State Governor Obiano for completing the International Cargo Airport at Umueri within eight years. Onowu said Governor Obiano has set a rewarding pace by starting such capital intensive project and completing it in a time fashionable.

High Chief Igwe who did not hide his displeasure with his state Governor for failing to complete not even one road project in his home town – Uli, however appealed to the out going governor to see that he completes at least one road project in the community before he bows out of office. He extolled the leadership and administrative savvy of the Anambra state governor, and urged his likely successors to emulate the great accomplishments of both Obiano and Peter Obi in the area of infrastructural development

Igwe who also has the title of “Ezechimahubere” of Uli also passionately called on the President General of Uli Progressive Union to summon a meeting of traditional and political stakeholders to brainstorm and dissect the problems saddling the community with a view to putting behind all the subsisting anti development forces for meaningful development to flourish in the community.

Onowu further blamed the existence of too many divisions in Uli for the state government’s failure to take contracts awarded in the community serious. He said that Uli would regain it’s lost glory as soon as the fledgling political and traditional grouping are collapsed through meaningful resolution and everybody begins to speak with one voice on all matters affecting the good of the community. He finally vowed to do everything possible to see that Uli is united.
