Suspected terrorists operating in the Batsari Local Government forest area have launched a house-to-house attack on the Bakiyawa community in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, abducting about 50 persons, killing one and injuring 4 others.
A reliable source within the community who confirmed the incident said, the attack took place Wednesday night at about 11:pm when the residents had gone to sleep.
He added that the terrorists arrived in the community on about 40 motorcycles shooting sporadically, went from house to house, demanding money, and asking for the breadwinners of the families.
It was gathered that about 60 animals were also rustled, while the terrorists faced no resistance, operating freely for about 3 hours.
The source also said, a nursing woman who is among the abductees, returned with some others, after trekking in the forest for about 2 hours.
While the police and other relevant authorities are yet to make any official statement or confirmation, the source added that the injured are currently receiving treatment at a facility within the metropolis, while the dead, simply referred to as Tukur Gambo, has since been buried.
