Nigeria Customs Service Board Approves Key Appointments, Promotions, and Restructuring
The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB), led by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, has made significant updates to its leadership and operations during its 61st meeting on December 18, 2024.
Key Appointments
The Board confirmed one Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) and seven Assistant Comptrollers General (ACGs) to strengthen the leadership team. The appointees include:

ZM Gaji (North-East)
OA Adebakin (South-West)
GM Omale (North-Central)
MS Yusuf (North-Central)
DA Nnadi (South-East)
HK Ejibunu (North-Central)

These appointments address vacancies due to retirements and reflect the Service’s commitment to inclusivity and balance under the Federal Character Policy.
Promotions for Over 4,000 Officers
A total of 4,291 senior officers received promotions, recognizing their outstanding contributions:
80 promoted to Comptroller of Customs (CC)
151 to Deputy Comptroller (DC)
612 to Assistant Comptroller (AC)
641 to Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC)
392 to Superintendent of Customs (SC)
590 to Deputy Superintendent (DSC)
965 to Assistant Superintendent I (ASC I)
860 to Assistant Superintendent II (ASC II)
Special Honors and Posthumous Promotion
Sixteen officers received special promotions for exceptional performance.
The late Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Etop Andrew Essien, was posthumously honored for his dedication and contributions.
Strategic Restructuring
The Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Unit has been upgraded and moved under the Comptroller General’s office. An Assistant Comptroller General will now lead this unit, ensuring improved efficiency and oversight.
Service Extensions for Senior Officers
To maintain operational stability, a 12-month service extension was granted to senior officers from the six geopolitical zones. These include:
ACGs B Imam, IG Umar, and KC Egwu
Comptrollers F Abdulqadri, MT Awe, and OF Ojiefor
Comptroller-General’s Message
Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi praised the officers and expressed gratitude for their dedication. He extended warm holiday wishes and thanked the Finance Minister for supporting the Service’s growth.
