The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the joint task force of Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another operational success following a coordinated air interdiction on a terrorist enclave at AbbagaJiri, within the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State.
The Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the operation was based on multi-source intelligence that confirmed the presence of active terrorists, fortified structures, and concealed logistics facilities in the area.
According to the statement, NAF air assets were deployed for integrated intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, followed by precision air strikes on identified targets.
“The operation was deliberately designed to degrade terrorist capability, deny them sanctuary, and shape the battlespace for advancing ground forces, in strict adherence to the rules of engagement and the protection of non-combatants,” the statement said.
Commenting on the operation, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, said the successful mission underscored the NAF’s resolve to dominate the air domain in support of joint operations.
“This operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to delivering precise and decisive airpower in support of ground forces. We will continue to deny terrorists freedom of movement, sanctuary, and logistics wherever they seek to hide,” the CAS stated.
He explained that terrorist structures at the location were decisively engaged and destroyed, while a follow-up strike neutralised armed elements observed converging on the area.
Air Marshal Abubakar added that subsequent advances by ground troops into the location confirmed the effectiveness of the air strikes, validating the success of the joint air-land operation.
Reaffirming the NAF’s operational posture, the CAS emphasised that air operations would remain relentless and intelligence-driven.
“Our operations are carefully planned and intelligence-led, ensuring maximum impact on hostile elements while safeguarding innocent civilians. The Nigerian Air Force will sustain pressure until terrorist networks are completely dismantled,” he said.
