The Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dayo Mobereola, has commended women for their significant contributions to the development of Nigeria’s maritime industry.
In a goodwill message to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day, Mobereola praised the strength, professionalism, and resilience of women working across the sector.
Speaking on the theme “Give to Gain,” the NIMASA DG noted that women have continued to drive progress, innovation, and sustainable growth within the maritime industry through their dedication and expertise.
“I celebrate your strength, expertise, and invaluable contributions to our maritime industry,” he said. “The theme Give to Gain reflects your daily impact. Through professionalism, leadership, and resilience across sea-going, regulatory, technical, and administrative roles, you give excellence and our sector gains progress, innovation, and sustainable growth.”
Mobereola further commended the dedication of women in the industry and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where women can thrive and assume leadership roles.
He stressed that building an inclusive maritime sector remains a priority for NIMASA, noting that empowering women is key to the industry’s long-term development.
International Women’s Day is a global observance that highlights the challenges faced by women and promotes gender equality. The 2026 theme, “Give to Gain,” focuses on investing in women through education, resources, and mentorship to build a stronger and more equitable society.
