Police in Katsina State said they have killed one terrorist, arrested an informant and seized a number of weapons as in a raid on a terrorists hideout at Maizuma village in Danja Local Government Area of the state, even as two abducted female victims have been reportedly released by the police after they spent five weeks in bandits’ captivity in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
Police Command spokesman Gambo Isah in a statement said the command acted on credible intelligence
He added that upon the receipt of the intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer of Danja led a team of policemen to the area and engaged the hoodlums into a gun duel.
Isah said, the team successfully repelled the terrorists and shot one of the terrorists dead
In the course of scanning the hideout, they recovered, one locally fabricated gun, military camouflage uniform, machetes a dagger, one hundred bottles and a gallon of spirits.
The Police say they also seized a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, two Boxer motorcycles, three car batteries, one sewing machine, a roll of cable wire and two cooking gas cylinders.
One suspected informant to the terrorists was also arrested while the suspected ring leader of the group, Sule Dawa, escaped with fatal gunshot wounds
Isah said while the command is making efforts to arrest the gang leader and other members of the group, the Commissioner of Police, Idrisu Dabban has acknowledged the efforts of the security personnel in repelling the terrorists and directed them to sustain the tempo until all forms of crime are effectively dealt with.

Zamfara
In another development, the police have rescued two abducted female victims after they spent five weeks in bandits’ captivity in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
State Command Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu said, on Saturday, police operatives while on confidence building patrol along Nya Mango in Bungudu Local Government Area, acted on intelligence report which led to the rescue of the two female hostages.
They two victims are 12-year old Ubaida Hassan and 10-year old Umaima Jamilu of Gidan Liman village in Kekun Waje District of Bungudu LGA of Zamfara State. They were abducted by terrorists on July 15, 2022 following an attack on their village.
The two hostages who were rescued unhurt underwent medical check at General Hospital Bungudu and thereafter, debriefed by the Police and handed over to their families.
The Command while reassuring the public of its commitment to the protection of lives and property, congratulates the victims for regaining freedom.
Shehu further urges all and sundry to be security conscious and report suspicious characters to the Police or any other security agency for prompt action.
