A one-story building belonging to Salvation Ministries Church, along Okpanam Road, Asaba, the Delta state capital has collapsed.
The building, whose original design was said to have been tempered with, caved in yesterday during a church service, thereby trapping some worshippers, particularly children who were at a separate section of the church.
Frontline Reporters gathered that reconstruction work was ongoing without recourse to the original strength of the foundation of the structure.
As at the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties were yet to be ascertained.
Members of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and a detachment from the Delta State Emergency Agency were seen searching for trapped bodies under the debris.
