Senate mourns Former Lawmaker Arthur Nzeribe

The Senate on Tuesday observed a minute silence, in honour of the late first republic politician and former lawmaker, who represented Imo West Senatorial District in the Senate from 1999 till 2003.

This followed a point of order by Senator Rochas Okorocha, (APC, imo west), calling the attention of the Upper Chamber, to the death of the former legislator, who died at the age of 83, after a prolonged illness.

He noted that the late Nzeribe was an astute politician and philanthropist, who was loved by his constituents and beyond, as a result of his contribution to legislative activities in the National Assembly.

Senator Okorocha urged the Senate to immortalize the late Arthur Nzeribe in the Federal Capital Territory.

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, urged politicians to emulate the life and service of the late
Senator, whose departure has created a vacuum in the political space, that must be filled by current lawmakers.
