The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has dismissed as a hoax the allegation that it is planning enforce tenure elongation for its present executives, even as it believes it is the handiwork of its expelled members.
This was as the camp of the estranged Board led by Managing Director of Pyramid Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, was said to have requested for reconciliation with the executive of the association.
The camp has been on war path with the national executive led by Iju Tony Nwabunike with a number of court cases.
A letter for reconciliation was however said to have been written by Prince Taiye Oyeniyi seeking reconciliation.
Nwabunike who spoke to newsmen after the NEC meeting held in Lagos recently acknowledged that the association was with the letter.
It was gathered that the conditions given by Oyeniyi’s camp for reconciliation were such that the move will fail.
Among the conditions were for some chapter elections to be quashed, a development considered by the executive members as outrageous coming from expelled members.
It was gathered that due to the conditions in the letter, members had dismissed it and insisted that the association cannot be discussing with expelled members.
However, when pressed by newsmen on the way forward, the President, Nwabunike said his executive has only one year to stay in office.
Yet, he said if the expelled members were genuine on coming back to the association, it will take some processes.
According to him, the executive was open to peaceful resolution as well as on ground to defend its territory.
Nwabunike was of the view that if the expelled members really want to come back, it would be the NEC that will decide their case.
Nwabunike who described the outcome of Friday’s NEC meeting as “robust and successful” said, “If they want to come back, it will be through a sequence. We have only one year to spend in office. We cannot stay more than one year. I always let them know if they want to come back, and they go through the sequence, which is the NEC, It is not me Tony Iju that expelled them, then, the NEC meeting will begin to review their cases as it were to know if they care going to be sorted out. For us we are very open to any peaceful resolution to date, and equally we are on ground to defend our territorial integrity”.
ANLCA had last year expelled ; the Managing Director of Green Star Nigeria Limited, Mr. Temitope Akindele, the Managing Director of Multimodal Logistics Limited, Mr. Abdulmaza Joe-Sanni, the Managing Director of MarkMary Nigeria Limited, Prince Taiye Oyeniyi, Managing Director of Pyramid Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, Managing Director of Nestilo Global Services, Sir Ernest Elochukwu, Managing Director of Salem International Nigeria Limited, Sir John Oforbike and the Managing Director of Bayle Limited, Alhaji Bayo Oyekangun.
The Vice President of ANLCA, Dr. Kayode Farinto, who is also the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee said the members were expelled over allegation of anti-association activities, among others.
