The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has commended Nigeria’s international partners for their unwavering support in strengthening bilateral relations and expanding global trade cooperation with the country.
Adeniyi made the remarks during a high-level diplomatic cocktail reception hosted by the Service at its headquarters in Abuja, where ambassadors, high commissioners, heads of diplomatic missions and senior government officials gathered to reinforce ties and explore new areas of collaboration.
The event served as a strategic platform for fostering stronger international partnerships, enhancing trade relations and promoting institutional cooperation in support of Nigeria’s economic and security objectives.

Speaking at the reception, Adeniyi described diplomacy as a critical pillar of modern customs administration, noting that the Nigeria Customs Service remains committed to providing the support required for diplomatic missions to operate effectively within the country.

The Customs boss disclosed that the NCS has significantly expanded its global reach through structured collaboration frameworks with more than 20 customs administrations across the world. According to him, these partnerships focus on knowledge exchange, capacity building and operational cooperation designed to improve trade facilitation and strengthen border management systems.
He stressed that sustained collaboration among customs administrations, diplomatic missions and security agencies is essential for achieving effective border security, enhanced revenue generation and greater economic competitiveness in an increasingly interconnected global marketplace.
Adeniyi further observed that modern customs operations now function within a complex international ecosystem that demands continuous engagement, trust-building and shared responsibility among nations to tackle emerging challenges in trade, security and regulatory compliance.
He noted that the diplomatic reception provided a valuable opportunity to deepen relationships, encourage meaningful dialogue and identify fresh avenues for cooperation that will further strengthen Nigeria’s trade and diplomatic architecture.
Participants at the event, including senior government officials and diplomatic representatives, praised the Nigeria Customs Service for its consistent efforts in building stronger institutional partnerships and creating an enabling environment for international collaboration.
