BY FRONTLINE REPORTERS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded a sweeping victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Edo State, polling 131,096 votes across the state’s 192 political wards.

The primary election, held on Saturday alongside similar exercises across the 36 states of the federation, saw Tinubu overwhelmingly defeat his challenger, Stanley Osifo, who secured just one vote statewide.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who served as the returning officer for the exercise, announced the results at the APC Secretariat along Ikpoba Hill in Benin City, describing the election as peaceful, transparent and well coordinated.

According to the governor, the process was conducted simultaneously across all local government areas in the state without any major incident.

“The election was peacefully conducted across Edo State. I participated in the election myself as I voted in my ward, and the results have been presented as they are from all the 192 wards in the state,” Okpebholo said.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured 131,096 votes while Osifo scored one vote.”

The announcement followed the submission of results by collation officers from the 18 local government areas of Edo State, who converged at the party secretariat for the official collation and declaration of results.
