In a rare and entertainment thrilling ceremony rich in tradition and influence, the Katsina Emirate has ushered in a new wave of district leadership, blending elite lineage with technocratic experience—an outcome widely seen as a strategic boost to grassroots governance
The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, also congratulated three newly turbaned District Heads in the Katsina Emirate, describing their appointments as a powerful blend of merit, tradition, and leadership continuity.
Kankara delivered the message shortly after the grand turbaning ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Soro in Katsina, where dignitaries from across the country gathered to witness the historic event.
He hailed the appointments as well-deserved, urging the new district heads to rise to the demands of leadership by prioritising grassroots development and strengthening the socio-economic fabric of their domains.

The newly installed traditional leaders are Alhaji Ahmed Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, who becomes Dan Majen Katsina and District Head of Dankama; Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Radda, now Gwagwaren Katsina and District Head of Radda; and Alhaji Abubakar Dardisu, appointed Sarkin Muduru and District Head of Muduru.
Highlighting their pedigree, Kankara described Dardisu as a seasoned technocrat who served Nigeria for 35 years in the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also noted his distinction as a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, where he earned the prestigious mni title.
He further revealed the strong lineage and professional grounding of the other appointees. The Dan Majen Katsina is the son of the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, and currently serves with the Central Bank of Nigeria in Kaduna, while the Gwagwaren Katsina is the son of the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda.
The ceremony drew an impressive array of dignitaries, including Governor Radda; the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf; Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe; and Speaker Nasir Yahaya Daura, alongside prominent traditional rulers from Katsina and Daura Emirates.
Also in attendance were members of NIPSS Course 41 and other Members of the National Institute (mni) from across the country. Kankara, himself a member of Course 35, expressed particular delight at welcoming a fellow mni, Dardisu, into district leadership within the emirate.
He commended Governor Radda and the Emir of Katsina for the creation of six new districts, describing the move as a bold and strategic step toward deepening traditional governance and enhancing grassroots administration across the emirate.
